Fusion Crowned South Atlantic Division Champions

Qualify for Playoffs

The North Carolina Fusion U-23’s USL League Two Team have been crowned South Atlantic Division Champions by virtue of last night’s 3-0 win over Virginia Beach.  The Fusion finished with a 8-4-2 record, good for 26 points and the top of the division.  With that win, the Fusion have clinched a playoff berth and advance to the Eastern Conference Tournament this weekend, hosted in Reading, PA.

The Fusion will play this Friday (July 19th) vs. one of the following opponents: Western Mass. Pioneers (Northeast Division Champions), Reading United AC (Mid Atlantic Division Champions), or GPS Portland Maine (Wild Card) in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.  The winners will square off on Saturday, July 20th in Reading, PA. with the winner being named the Eastern Conference Champion.  The following two Saturdays are the National Semi-Finals (July 27th), and National Finals (Aug. 3rd)(both at a location TBD)

The Fusion roster features seven former Fusion youth players, including Faisal Almubaslat, Alex Hernandez, Casey Penland, Josh Peterman, Nick Phipps, Austin Shuping & Holden Trent.  Current Fusion DA players, training and playing with the U-23’s include Lucas Hales, Garrett Kessel, Kevan Kahoussi & Malik Pinto
