NC Fusion in the Pros: Weekly Recap August 26th

This week saw 14 former NC Fusion players across MLS and USL Championship in action for their clubs. Most notably were games where an NC Fusion alum scored or had an assist. Here’s how some of our former academy and U-23 players playing professionally fared this week.

MLS

Shea Salinas (San Jose Earthquakes): 26 minutes vs Los Angeles FC, 10 minutes vs Vancouver Whitecaps. Salinas came on as a 2nd half substitute in San Jose’s 4-0 loss at LAFC. Salinas had an 80% pass accuracy and completed 2 long balls in the game. Salinas also came on as a sub in the waning minutes of the Earthquakes 3-1 win over the Whitecaps. In his short time on the field, Salinas created 2 chances and was 14 for 14 in passes.

Luis Argudo (Columbus Crew): 78 minutes vs New York City. Argudo started in the Columbus Crew’s 1-0 loss in NYC on Wednesday night. Argudo was the most fouled player in the match and had 2 successful take-ons in the match

Sebastian Ibeagha (New York City FC): 3 minutes vs Columbus Crew. Ibeagha was subbed on late in the game to help ensure the 1-0 win for NYCFC on Wednesday night. He had 1 interception and 1 recovery in that time.

Sean Davis (New York Red Bulls): 90 minutes vs DC United. Davis played the entire game in New York’s 2-1 win away to DC United on Wednesday night. Davis created 1 big scoring chance in the game and had 2 interceptions. The win helped New York to stay ahead of their rivals DC United in the standings.

Daniel Lovitz (Montreal Impact): 90 minutes vs Toronto FC. Lovitz played the entire game in Montreal’s 2-1 loss to their bitter rivals TFC. Lovitz had the most tackles in the match with 3 and won the most duels in the match with 8. With the loss, Toronto leaped ahead of Montréal for the last playoff spot.

Warren Creavalle (Philadelphia Union): 3 minutes vs DC United. Creavalle came on as a substitute in the dying minutes of the game to help ensure a 3-1 victory for Philadelphia over DC. He was fouled once and had 2 recoveries.

Brandt Bronico (Chicago Fire): 90 minutes vs New England Revolution. Bronico started and played the full 90 in Chicago’s 2-1 loss to New England. The day in day out center midfielder played this match at right back for the Fire. While playing out of position, Bronico had 2 tackles, 2 interceptions and 3 recoveries.

USL Championship

Sam Fink (Saint Louis FC): 90 minutes vs Ottawa Fury FC. Fink played the entire match in Saint Louis’ 2-1 loss to Ottawa. Fink scored (2:35 mark) a pk in the 71 minute and had the most passes in the game with 53.

Gianluca Busio (Swope Park Rangers): 56 minutes vs New York Red Bulls II. Busio started in Swope Parks 5-1 loss vs NYRB on Saturday night in Kansas City. Busio had an 86% pass accuracy and was fouled twice.

Brian Anunga (Charleston Battery): 90 minutes vs Nashville SC. Anunga played the entire match in Charleston’s 2-1 loss to Nashville on Saturday. Anunga completed the most dribbles in the match with 3 and the most passes with 50. He also made 3 tackles in the match.

Jon Bakero (Phoenix Rising FC): 81 minutes vs Sacramento Republic FC. Bakero started in Rising FC’s 2-1 win at home vs Sacramento late Friday night. Bakero has an 86% pass accuracy, created 1 chance and was 4 for 4 in long passes.

Michael Lahoud (San Antonio FC): 7 minutes vs New Mexico United. Lahoud came on late in the game in SAFC’s 5-0 win over one of the top sides in the western conference, New Mexico. Despite his short time on the field, Lahoud got an assist (0:00 in the video) and created 2 chances in the game.

Shane Malcolm (Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC): 22 minutes vs Fresno FC. Malcolm came on as a sub in the 2nd half in Colorado Springs 2-1 loss in Fresno. Malcolm had 15 touches and 2 crosses in the game. With the loss, the Switchbacks are winless in their last 6 games.

Jordan McCrary (Sacramento Republic FC): 90 minutes vs Phoenix Rising FC. McCrary played the entire match in Sacramento’s 2-1 loss in Phoenix on Wednesday night. He was fouled 3 times, had 3 interceptions and had a 77% pass accuracy.
